Your Privacy Matters

This Privacy Policy was created in line with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) issued May 2018. While this legislation formally applies only to European citizens, we choose to apply it to everyone we deal with.

We’ve updated this privacy policy for our site and newsletter to ensure you are informed about how ChrissyMunder.com uses your personal data. Please read through the following information and contact us if you have further questions.

Who we are

Our website address is: https://chrissymunder.com. This site allows visitors to learn more about author Chrissy Munder and her work.

What counts as personal data?

Personal data is any information that can be used to identify someone, whether through direct or indirect means, including commonly used online identifiers such as cookies and location data.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

This site uses WordPress. By default ,WordPress does not collect any personal data about visitors. However, if you follow ChrissyMunder.com, WordPress holds your name and email to be able to send you updates whenever something is added to the site.

WordPress may also collect data for users who choose to leave comments on posts or who use an embedded contact form. Email addresses will not be posted, only name and website address if the user chooses to share it. This information is used by WordPress to send further comments/responses to users who choose to receive them, or by Chrissy Munder for the sole purpose of communicating with website visitors. Visitor comments may also be checked through an automated spam detection service.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture may be  visible to the public in the context of your comment.

IP addresses also feed into overall visitor statistics. This data is only viewed in the aggregate, but it is useful to know, for example, what proportion of visitors come from which countries. The IP address also helps eliminate statistical data associated with bots rather than real people.

We collect data by users signing up for our newsletter which we process using MailChimp. We don’t share this information with anyone else and the data is used to create newsletters keeping you informed of news, releases, updates, and information from Chrissy Munder.

We only collect information needed to process the requested newsletter and this may include your email address and name, IP address, and when you sign-up, you may click a box confirming you are either 18 years of age, or of legal age in your area. There could also be an indication of why, when, or where a subscriber signed up to enable a more targeting marketing.

We use a double opt-in when you subscribe to our newsletter, and you may unsubscribe at any time by clicking on the provided link at the bottom of the newsletter.  This does not, however, delete your personal data; you will need to contact us if you would like that information deleted.

You can learn more about MailChimp’s privacy policies here: https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/
