Looking ahead to 2022!

Wow, my friends. Just wow! Will you look at this gorgeous suncatcher? It's a surprise gift from SuperReader! Karen, and I want to send out a huge thank you and acknowledge how much she brightened my day.

We've been emailing back and forth about the way 2021 has gone and how emotionally difficult the start of this year was for both of us. In my case, you may remember I finally decided to set some financial and professional boundaries with a publisher who owed (and still owes) me at least 2 years of royalties by asking for a revision of all story rights.

Funnily enough, I felt like *I* was the failure/disappointing one in that ultimately dysfunctional relationship and I didn't know what I was going to do next. I didn't know if I was ever going to republish any of the work, or even, continue writing.

Writing is hard, y'all. It's tough and demanding work, interspersed with tiny bits of unexpected joy. Add in the whole ongoing loss of sight thing (more hard work and a lot less joy), as well as all the other things I want to achieve, and there are days I don't know if I'm strong enough to keep at it. What I am apparently, is stubborn. And, contrary to what I've always believed about myself, there's not much quit to go along with it.

We are almost at the end of the year (no, I'm not exaggerating. November/December is going to fly by), and I have accomplished some amazing things. Including rewriting and working with another publisher to bring 7 of these stories back to life. The process, like all writing, has been hard. I won't kid you. But it's been fun, too. Revisiting these characters, expanding their stories, and feeling again, the tiny, unexpected bits of joy has made 2021 a very productive and creatively satisfying year. I can't wait to see what 2022 has in store!

I've learned so much from so many sources that has helped me on this path. I've shared my affiliate link before, but one of the biggest game changers was taking the HB90 Bootcamp offered by author Sarra Cannon. Her method of quarterly goal setting and planning has added clarity and consistency where I needed them most.

A new round of the HB90 Bootcamp will be starting in December, and I'm excited to work through the process as I make my plans for 2022. If you'd like to join in, please consider using my affiliate link. It won't cost you anything extra and I will receive a small commission. Thank you.
