Hey there, friends. Happy Tuesday. This post is for anyone who didn't quite believe me when I posted my January motivation and grandly announced I wasn't starting my New Year yet. I wasn't joking. And honestly? I still haven't *officially* acknowledged January yet. Do you think I pull this off for another 12 months?
That huge pile-up of appointments and general, all around stuff has gotten smaller. My office of shame has a floor now but there's still more to wade through, and it doesn't help I've been listening to Andrew Mellen as he cheerfully announces that "file cabinets are where papers go to die." Thanks, Andrew. I'm grieving enough as it is.
So, what have I been doing? I've slept in. I've crocheted. I've started my tax prep and workups, I've reflected and appreciated all I was able to accomplish in 2021, and then I ran right into a whole wall of upper limit beliefs! That was fun. I've spent some time catching up with friends. I've also brainstormed out the outline of my next WIP until I got stuck at the question of: is two stories featuring Bed and Breakfasts too much? Readers - what do you think? There's no connection between them and right now, no real way to create one. Hmmm. still working on that one.
I've also spent some time reading. Here's my latest, Viral by J.T. Cooper, and while I don't normally review what I read, and don't normally think I'd like to read more when I finish a book, guess what? All I could think was I'd really like to read more of this one. Viral was a very interesting and involving pandemic read coming at things from the very different angle of what happens to the wife who, when her husband gets caught up in the bureaucratic tangle, takes her son to live with the rural in-laws she really doesn't have a relationship with. 10/10. Would recommend.
I can't put my New Year off forever, I know. But, for right now. I'm enjoying my extended December.
