Who wants to buddy up with a Camp Nano Newbie? I'm venturing into uncharted territory this April as I work on a new short story. I'm ChrissyM - Come say hi, hold my hand, show me your tricks, or simply poke fun. I'm game if you are.

February, February, wherefore art thou, February?
So. Yeah. February is gone. Long gone. So far back in the rearview mirror there's not even a glimpse. And somehow, despite all my careful plans and scheduling I am here in the first week of March feeling overwhelmed, behind, and so far off track I'm not sure I'm going to be able to get back on.
Sigh.
But hey, that's self-indulgent and overly dramatic. When I separate myself from my feelings, I achieved an amazing amount of tasks and items that had been hanging on from last year, and needed doing this first quarter of 2020. Yay, me!!
But the habit of feeling overwhelmed and unaccomplished is a hard one to break. One I'm working on, but one I'm still surprised at how deep it has it's hooks sunk in. Why is it so hard to celebrate the little wins, and so easy to dwell on the items that need to be viewed as feedback, not failure?
Do you struggle with this?

Happy January 15th!
I'm not sure whether to say "Whew, I can't believe it's January 15th already" or to say "Whew, thank goodness it's only January 15th." How about you? Do you feel like the year is already getting away from you? Let's take a deep breath and repeat all together:
We have plenty of year left in our year.
Believe it? I'm not sure I do either. My To Do Lists have already spawned more lists and my carefully laid out plans for the 1st Quarter have already been turned upside down with unexpected additions. I'm excited, not only for the opportunities ahead but look how much I've learned! I've only planned this quarter!! I can be flexible.
Okay, quit your chuckling.
In a nutshell, this post basically says, "I had/have plans! I'm already behind/ahead on said plans! I can't wait to share these plans with you!"
Soon. First I'm going to put my To Do Lists on some much-needed birth control.
Hope you had a wonderful New Year.

How to set goals in your career and life you'll actually take action on!
It's that time again. Are you tired of setting the same goals for your career and life each New Year? Have you laid out meaningful goals, but as the months roll by realize you have no clue how to actually take the action needed to achieve them? Are you so overwhelmed by ALL THE THINGS you want to achieve you freeze up and do none of them? Are you frustrated with past failures to just get stuff done?
I know how you feel. Because that was me. I'm a person who loves organization, plans, project outlines, and list upon eternal checklist. I've never been bored, because there's always something else I want to do. But for all my effort I had a hard time achieving more than a few of the plans I spent so much time lovingly creating. Don't get me wrong, push come to deadline I've always managed to do what was necessary, but I wanted more ease, more flow, and a more streamlined process.
I thought I was just lazy, didn't have the will to follow-through, or was just easily distracted by the next shiny thing or story idea. Over the last couple of years I've worked hard at figuring out what was holding me back and I came close. But something was still missing.
Then I came across Indie Author, Sarra Cannon and her Heart Breathings blog and YouTube channel. Her videos were refreshingly straightforward and more than helpful as I wrangled with the questions of what did I really want from my life and writing career. Better yet, they fit into to the process I was already working on. When she opened her HB90 Bootcamp, a class to finish strong in the 4th Quarter of 2018, I was excited to finally flesh out my path to achievable goals and goal-setting.
I'm so glad I did. In her class, I understood what my priorities actually were, set over-arching goals for the quarter in both my career and personal life, and better yet, I've completed more than one big, gnarly, been hanging over me for far too long project. And I'm ready to tackle more.
Why am I rambling on about this? Well, Sarra is opening the next round of her HB90 Bootcamp and if you are dreading another year of never getting the things you truly want completed, it may be of interest to you. I can't promise you the same results, but I do believe the old saying, "when the student is ready, the teach appears." I was ready. How about you?
Full disclosure: this link to Sarra's class is an affiliate link. I will receive a small commission if you sign up using my link. Using the link won't cost you anything extra, and will actually give you access to her December class at a $30 savings.
This is the first affiliate link I have ever shared and it's only because I have achieved so much success with her process. This isn't just another write and market stronger, better, faster, try harder class. While Sarra is a successful indie author, and her teachings focus on achieving career goals, I've also used them to achieve personal life goals.
Not sure if this goal achieving process is right for you? Visit her Heart Breathings YouTube channel and watch a few of her videos. If she resonates with you go ahead and learn more about her HB90 Bootcamp. Whether you sign up or not, I'd love to hear what you think about her videos.
